Briar Ridge Old Vines Shiraz (12 per case)

Drawing upon our extensive 50-year legacy in the art of winemaking, we proudly present a harmonious blend of Shiraz sourced from our two oldest, family-owned vineyards: one in the Hunter Valley, with vines that have thrived for 40 years, and the other in Wrattonbully, South Australia, boasting 25-year-old vines.

Nose: The wine beckons with subtle hints of white pepper and delicate violet notes on the nose, leading to a palate brimming with rich, juicy red fruits, underpinned by a vibrant, crunchy acidity. The structure and length are finely crafted, thanks to silky tannins that gracefully weave in clove and aniseed oak spice notes.

Style: This Shiraz embodies an approachable, medium-bodied, and savory red wine.

Cellaring: Whether you choose to enjoy it now or cellar it over the short term, this easy-drinking Shiraz is a versatile choice.

Pairing: It pairs wonderfully with nutty cheeses or a hearty dish of beef spare ribs.

Tasting Notes:

  • Appearance: A deep, dark red-black color with a crimson tinge.
  • Aroma: Pronounced top notes of aniseed mingle with ripe dark plum, leather, vanillin cedar, dried meats, and earthy pepper.
  • Palate: The palate is rich and fleshy, featuring ripe, spicy dark plum and licorice fruits set against a backdrop of scorched earth, vanillin cedar, and hints of peppered meats. The tannins are ripe yet chewy, imparting a slightly meaty mouthfeel. The wine concludes with a generously fruited, long finish, with subtle leather nuances emerging.

Enjoy over the next 4-5 years.
